Got my company to temporarily issue me an old X1 carbon (from 2020) to see if it’s something I’d want to keep.
It’s a bit slow, runs hot, and doesn’t have a lot of memory (just 16gb). I’ve done a repaste and got the thermals down by about 10c but it’s still quite hot when doing Google meet or playing YouTube.
I don’t think I’ll be using it for actual work though. The screen is nice so it’s great for watching videos and tutorials while on the sofa, and if I really need to do some work I can always just connect to my work vm.
