More Dell 7820 mods

Now I have 4 sticks of 32G memory for a total of 128G (in quad channel, this system has hexa channel support so I need to sticks more to get the best memory performance available)
sff-8643 to sff-8639 adapter. The end looks like sata, but that’s for sas drives.
Attaching the U.2 to nvme adapters. They’re currently 256G drives for testing; I’ll get them upgraded to 1T each over the weekend.
Stuffing it inside the 5.25in empty bay. I think I’ll get a proper sled eventually, but for now this will do.
All ready to close up and test out.
Looks like the new ram was detected!
All sticks are seen and it’s time to run the ram through it’s paced via Memtest86+
Interestingly, the unit pulls about 200 watts during the memtest. The monitor and lights are included in this measurement as they share the same extension cord.
Aaaaaand … We get a clean bill of health!

Sadly, the nvme drives in the U.2 adapters weren’t detected, but most likely it’s because I didn’t connect the SATA power(?) but that’s something I just need to figure out over the weekend.

For now I’m really happy that the memory works and that I’m back to my previous 128G from where I was using the b560 as my proxmox server.
