TIL: audio, video, disco

Apparently these are latin for

  • I hear
  • I see
  • I learn

In the case of disco, it is the latin root of the word “discovery.”

The word disco that is contemporarily known is short for discothèque which in turn was derived from “disque” (as in a platter, like the vinyl records) and “bibliothèque” (french for library).
